Sherlock Holmes, 2009. A sampler...

Sherlock Holmes: You've never complained about my methods before.

Dr. John Watson: I'm not complaining.

Sherlock Holmes: You're not? What do you call this?

Dr. John Watson: I never complain! How am I complaining? When do I ever complain about you practicing the violin at three in the morning, or your mess, your general lack of hygiene, or the fact that you steal my clothes?

Sherlock Holmes: Uh, we have a barter system...

Dr. John Watson: When have I ever complained about you setting fire to my rooms?

Sherlock Holmes: Our rooms...

Dr. John Watson: The rooms! Or, or, the fact that you experiment on my dog?

Sherlock Holmes: Our dog...

Dr. John Watson: The dog!

Sherlock Holmes: Gladstone is our dog!

It’s so good! The sequel is even better though, not as dark.

Both Sherlock’s are well loved in my house. The banter between those two characters is definitely some of the best out there. 🙌🏻

The Princess Bride, mostly for everything between Inigo and The Man in Black on the Cliffs of Insanity.

"I could give you my word as a Spaniard!"

"No good. I've known too many Spaniards."

The scene when Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man finally come face-to-face with the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) has some of the best stupid-funny witty banter.

John Banks : But I don't like soap bubbles. Mary Poppins : Well, then you shall have to try to avoid them at all costs. And the inflection!🤣 This exchange is just a drop in the bucket of the wittiness that is Mary Poppins Returns. Final answer!

I gotta go with my favorite romcom, The Philadelphia Story. When you have Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn, you’re always guaranteed the fast, witty dialogue. But the rest of the cast/characters kept up so well with their hijinks.

And the winner is Shannon with Sherlock Holmes. Congratulations, Shannon, you get to choose Monday's question.

Good Will Hunting. Starting with the scene where Will schools the grad student in the bar and from that point on the dialogue is often furious.

The battle of stubbornness between Will and Sean in their first counseling session is great writing.

Mordecai comes to mind on this one. Maybe because I recently watched it. It was quirky and witty. They lines and responses had a good pace. Especially between Mordecai and his body guard.

Mordecai is my final answer.

His Girl Friday. I've watched at least a dozen times and am still equal parts delighted and baffled by the banter.
