Had a bit of a delay this week since our last winner, Chris Bottoms, is currently a missionary in Tanzania. Priorities, geez. This week Chris asks: What do you think is the best remake of another film?
Going with True Grit in this one. Not to take anything away from John Wayne's, (which is still my preferred version), but the remake was surprisingly good. It also followed the book, which the original didn't.
Ahhh, fun question! I think I have to say…the new Little Women, with Laura Dern as Marmie and Saoirse Ronan (yes I had to look up how to spell it) as Jo. 😁
Ah, that's a good one, but I have a soft spot for the '94 version with Trini Alvarado, Winona Ryder, Clare Danes, Kirstin Dunst, and Susan Sarandon. Quite the time-capsule cast.
I was snippy about "The Parent Trap" back with the Mother's Day question, so I'll try to make it up by giving it a remake vote here, since I do generally and genuinely adore it. (And in fairness, it inherited its sketchy parenting practices from the original.)

I’m not sure if this counts, but John Carpenter’s The Thing is my pick. One of the best horror films and one of the best sci-fi films.
Why wouldn't it count?
Well I definitely count it as a remake. Though it’s more like a faithful adaptation of the short story than a remake of the 50s movie.
