The good news is Hollywood is so skilled peddling the tripe there's not an overwhelming amount of choices depicting good parenting.

I'm going with Finding Nemo. A parent that will go that far and endure so much discomfort? That's a sacrificial love I can get behind. The fact that Marlin is on his own journey of healing and growing is an added bonus as far as I'm concerned.

I’m gonna say…Mom’s Night Out, which I’ve mentioned before, but in the parenting realm it manages to be relatable and hilarious without also being depressing and devaluing of children, which is how Hollywood often spins parenting chaos.

I adore this movie. I was a hot mess during and after my first viewing. We watch it as a family every Mother's Day. The scene with Trace Adkins at the police station gets me. Every. Single. Time.

There is one scene that makes me cringe. When mom is late for church and her little daughter literally screams to put the mascara on her mom. And the mom lets her get away with it! Ugh!

Everything else?! Hilarious and relatable.

I haven't seen that, but will probably give it a go now.

The Pursuit of Happiness.

Parenting well is hard. Parenting with grace and love while also dealing with immense adversity and hardship is Christ-like.

There were so many brutiful moments in this film. My heart hurt with no relief until the very end. For that reason, I could only bring myself to watch it once. I found the story too real with the possibility that life could suddenly take that kind of turn to ever be “entertained” by it. And out there beyond my safe walls and the coziness of my couch, it’s very real for far too many families. By the end I was equal parts inspired and bereft and as I watched the credits roll I wondered— in the same situation, with my small child by my side as I walked through a living hell, would I rise or fall? Despair or endure? And mostly, would I still love well or let fear steal it all away? But God. It’s all I can really know.

I'm thinking probably not Deliverance. If they ever do a proper Superboy movie Ma and Pa Kent would win hands down. Alfred Pennyworth would be a contender if he had ever been given a proper script. Of course, Bruce Wayne's child labor violations while serving as guardian are notorious. I like Anakin's mom, but the story lacked that feel good ending one looks for.

I'll go with You Can't Take It With You. Jimmy Stewart makes an excellent straight man, and the examine your assumptions whimsy is full of heart without descending into accusation. It presents a differently ordered vision without falling into disorder.
