I was going to steal another one before Iree got to it but I've changed my mind.
Instead I submit The Battle of Little Round Top from the film Gettysburg. The desperate plea to fight till the last bullet, then when those were exhausted the inevitable order, "Fix bayonets."
"We're going to charge them, sir?"
"Yes. They've got to be tired if we are... bayonets!!"
Duty, valor that earned Chamberlain the Medal of Honor. And before all of that his commander shaking his hand and saying, "Now we'll see how professors fight."
This was a challenging question because I think there are a few directions this could be taken. A verbal spar? Historical reenactment? Epic good vs evil? Fantastical CGI? Hand-to-hand? Is it the setting? Weapons? People? Motivation? So many excellent options -it was fun to ponder!
I am choosing the scene between Vader and Luke in, "Return of The Jedi." Of course it impacted a young girl sitting in the theater in a tremendous way, If only because of her own struggles with an earthly father. So I connected with it on a much deeper level.
Even so, there are aspects of this battle that anyone can understand and appreciate. The anticipation for this showdown flowed through from the two previous movies. How many of us were on the edge of our seat, thrilled and anxious to witness what we knew would be the last interaction between these two complicated characters?
Even as a kid I knew that Luke, the obvious hero, would win. But, I could not foresee how Luke ultimately survived: Vader yielding to Anakin's love for his son.
It's complicated and simple all at once. It's dramatic, impactful and emotional. This sacrificial love is courageous and beautiful and priceless.
Little Kris and little Vince were on opposite ends of the Earth having the same experience in our respective movie theaters, apparently. I almost went with Vader vs. Luke from The Empire Strikes Back because it was such a gutsy move for Luke, running headfirst into battle to protect his friends and getting his butt handed to him in the process, and learning from the mistake. But Jedi is everything you said. Bravo.
Going with a fist fight, from John Ford's The Quiet Man. After killing a man in the ring, boxer Sean Thorton (John Wayne) swore never to fight again. But Squire 'Red' Danaher (Victor McLaglen)'s face proves all too punch able. The fight takes nine glorious minutes of screen time.
How about...Captain America: Civil War, in the big battle where the team splits in two, showcasing everyone's talents and powers amid the conflict of friends at war against each other who still manage to banter hilariously between blows. It's made even better by the introduction of the most adorable Spiderman ever ("I don't know if you've been in a fight before, but there's usually not this much talking." "All right, sorry. My bad.") and it's all fun and games until Vision knocks Rhodey out of the sky, with tragic results, sobering everyone up. This is why you can't have nice things, kids.

Need to watch that again now.
What, not gonna mention that you named a kid (and a girl, at that) after the hero in this battle? Well fine, I will. #nerd 😁
I guess I'm going with Will Turner vs. Captain Jack Sparrow in The Curse of the Black Pearl

What? Not Man in the Iron Mask?
Honestly I didn't even think of that
Ooh good one! I love the POC movies. 👏🏻

And the winner is Iree with Pirates of the Caribbean. Congratulations, Iree, you get to choose Monday's question.
Inigo Montoya and Westley holding the record for best fight scene since 1987 😁

Here we go again, eh Eustace, LC.
Que paso? Did I commit some kind of faux pas here? 😁
Once upon a time in the precursor to MFC we had to ban The Princess Bride and Casablanca from contention because they kept winning too often.
Oooooh oops 😬
You should put “the ban” in the game rules 😁
Should I come up with a different answer? I don’t think it’ll win this round anyways. There’s too many good answers for this question.
Oh no, The Princess Bride is fair game. For now. 51 fights in so far and it hasn't won one yet, if I recall.
Wow, took the winning answer right off the bat! I just got here thinking "I need to take Princess Bride before somebody else does!"
I salute you. You seem a decent fellow; I hate to die 😁
🙌🏻😁
