Can't believe no one had mentioned David Niven yet. So Niven is my nominee, he was in 1967's Casino Royale, a horrible attempt at a Bond spoof. It was "Oscar nominated" (for the song "The Look of Love".) And it featured Peter Sellers as a Bond impersonator and Woody Allen as "Jimmy Bond."
But Niven was given consideration for the role initially, an obstacle was he would cost too much. And in his brief appearance as Sir James Bond in this film, he brings a suave manner and wit that make for a quite winning 007. (I would say he definitely ranks higher on the list of Bonds than George Lazenby.)
I’ve like all of the actors who played Bond. Each one seemed appropriate for the style of the movie they acted in so to the “professional” critics who panned certain actors, y’all are blowhards and no one listens to you. </offsoapbox>
I was leaning towards Sean Connery until I started typing an answer.
Daniel Craig was a pleasant surprise stepping into the iconic role and it was refreshing to see an intense, serious spin with his particular movies. Though he still came across as not taking himself seriously in a subtle, debonair way, he was still believable. I also think he showed a vulnerability that the other actors missed.
It could be debated that Craig’s version is due to the writing and production, but surely the actor can get some credit for bringing the character to life.
Daniel Craig, final answer.
PS - perhaps we need to debate who should next fill the Bond shoes *smirks*
Gah! Just saw that Kris already picked Daniel Craig. So, I guess scratch my other comment. I’ll go with my second fav, Roger Moore who I felt brought just a bit more humor to the Bond character...and I’m rather fond of humor, so he gets extra points from me.
I surprised myself when I came to my final answer. My knee jerk response would have been Roger Moore, but on closer examination I concluded on Daniel Craig. So... Craig is my final answer.
Fight's gonna be over quick unless the Sean Connery contingent shows up.

And the winner is Eustace Scrubb. Congratulations, Eustace. You get to choose Monday's question.

Also, cool picture of the Bond fellas, Vince!
Sure, go for it. The only rules are the ones listed.
