I have two movies that came out the same month in 1980 but I don't recall which I saw first so I'll go with the one that was most memorable, The Empire Strikes Back. I probably saw Star Wars on HBO before that at home, but for Empire my family was first in line outside the movie theatre on the sidewalk. We brought a board game of Battleship and played on the sidewalk while waiting and watching the line wrap around the block behind us. After Empire I got Star Wars bed sheets, Yoda Underoos, and every action figure I could get my hands on.
Star Wars: A New Hope. I fell in love with that world and never looked back. My mom made me a Princess Leia costume for Halloween '77. One of my fondest childhood memories is my mom taking me out of school to go see Return of The Jedi. So Star Wars will always hold a special place in my heart.
JK, but it took a looong time to get over it and unlike the other Disney movies, I never watched it again. My mother definitely deeply regretted her choice 😁
There may have been movies watched on our family TV, but the first movie I remember - the first movie I ever saw in a movie theatre - was the animated Robin Hood. I was ten, and that day, for whatever reason, my parents decided to take the whole family to see Robin Hood (I loved it!) and out for supper at a real restaurant! That was a stellar day - my first movie and my first restaurant.
When I was a child, there were no VHS players at home. No DVDs, no streaming movies. Just two channels - three if you held the rabbit ear antennae just right. So going out to a real movie at a real cinema was a memorable experience for me.
I have since watched Robin Hood with my ten children - each of them have loved it, and our 26 year old son Neil, who still lives at home, will occasionally voice an imitation of Sir Hiss.

Bambi. I’m still traumatized 😭

And the winner of this week's movie fight is...Kris. Congratulations on your first win, Kris, you get to choose Monday's question.
Where are all the other commentators/comments? Only four for this one?! :/
I know, man. We've got over 60 members.🤷
I think y’all picked everyone’s top 4 already. 😂
Maybe they had answers like mine and it’s still too hard to talk about it 🤷🏻♀️😉😂
