Cinderella Man.

It captures the gravity of surviving that period through the eyes of a successful boxer who lost everything but his family. It's one of the best sports movies but it's really more about doing hard things in desperation to help the ones you love.

Great cast, great acting, writing, directing.

The Sting

One of the two pairings of two of the great movie stars, Redford and Newman. Robert Shaw is a great villain (as he was in From Russia with Love.) Marvelous set design and clothes. And how can one not smile when one hears the music of Scott Joplin. There are some very good films mentioned here, but for once the Academy was right when it said this was the best picture.

Mama’s Bank Account. Super fun, sweet, obscure but solid family movie based on a book, and it even does that book justice.

Ok, writing this one on the “must see”list. Never heard of it before...which is good since I’m running out of things to watch. The trash coming out of Hollywood these days is just 🤢

Are you into classics from the 30's and 40's? If so there is a wealth of quality films to tap into. Start with You Can't Take It With You.

Yes! Love quite a few from that era, but I haven’t seen You Can’t Take It With You. I’ll add it to the list 👍🏻 Thanks!

It’s really good! And the book is great. Good homeschool read. 😁

O Brother, Where Art Thou?, final answer.

The quotable quips in this movie are enough to make this one of my all time favorites. My husband and I frequently say “Dang! We’re in a tight spot!” And we also love so many other scenes and setups from that movie. And this is where I realized John Turturro is such a talented soul. The salvation and baptism scene is also a favorite.

Jenn, that's in my top 10 all time favorites and I quote from it as well ;)

If the Coen Brothers are a possible answer, it is probably the right answer.

Obviously you failed to notice Cinderella Man up there. Go vote...and repent.

And the winner is...Eustace Scrubb with The Sting. Great job, Eustace. You get to choose Monday's question.

I’ll go with Bonnie & Clyde with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. Not exactly a “feel good” movie, but a solid depression-era classic about the infamous couple. Final answer.

Hmmm...Citizen Kane.

That's a good one. Love it!

Lawless. It's gritty and has some dark corners, but overall it captivated me.

I almost put that one too. Captivating is good word for it. I struggled with the darker parts and the violence but I was glued from start to finish!

I never did mine, Paper Moon, but how did I not think of Oh Brother?

I'm going to have to go with Mary Poppins on this one. Such a fun classic.

Mary Poppins. Final answer.
