The X-Men animated series was a little weird but the film took great, creative characters from the comics and envisioned them in a different light. Probably the best example is Logan/Wolverine. Watch the animated X-Men Wolverine and compare the character to Hugh Jackman's version and there's no question it was all done for the better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-IFF9G25Cc
Took me almost all week to think of this, so I’m squeaking it in at the last minute and am just begging some of you to fight with me over whether or not it’s a true adaptation of the original, anyway… but…
Maleficent, from the old Disney version of Sleeping Beauty.
It’s totally a twist on the storyline so it doesn’t get points for faithfulness so much as creativity in putting the focus on the opposite perspective.
The Max Fleischer Superman animated shorts of the 1940's (found easily on Youtube, enter Superman 1941) are delightful. But when Christopher Reeve appeared on the screen in 1978, Richard Donner's Superman, you believed a man could fly. Final answer.
There are a few movies that come to mind with this question. Some sweet and nostalgic, and others highlighting Michael Bay in all his glory! What I decided to use as my meter is the vibe and feel of the movie. I asked myself if it made me feel like I did when I was a kid. Did it stay true to the original. There was only one movie that really stood out to me when thinking about this. The casting and characters were spot on. The quirkiness was there. It felt like it fit well with the source material.

Another win for Iree with The Jungle Book. Congratulations, Iree, you get to choose tomorrow's question.
Jungle Book (2016).
One of the last good things to come out of Disney (along with Rogue One that same year), and one of the only live-action remakes they got right.
Cinderella (2015 starring Lily James).
Yes! I loved it.

Scooby Doo. Final answer.
I haven’t seen this but now you’ve got me curious. 😂🤔
