We opened up the fighting for all members last week and had a fun run of it. After several rounds, Rosemary took the belt. This week it’s back to normal with Rosemary’s multi-faceted take on a classic question: What is the best or absolute worst adaptation of a book and why?
Some years ago I saw The Sea of Grass with Tracy/Hepburn. Then I ran across the book by Conrad Richter in a library and in reading it discovered the story is being told by the cattle man's nephew, who is not even in the movie! And looking it up right now to make sure my memory was correct I learned that director Elia Kazan didn't like it, being disappointed that he had to use stock footage on a screen instead of Great Plains location shooting, and that the costumes didn't look realistic enough.
I picked this lame question so I'll kick it off. I love the LOTR series but I feel that they are a strong departure from the books. I didn't think they were that dark. I never saw the orcs like that and the ending? That needs serious editing. Maybe I need to read them again?
The best adaptation in my.opinion is the BBC Pride and Pejudice mini-series. I've watched it so many times and never tire of it!
I was going to pick a different question that involved Christmas movies but I thought everyone might be over Christmas.

Rosemary already took my favorite adaptation 👏🏻 so as a backup I’ll say…the newer BBC version of Sense and Sensibility. So good. 🙌🏻
And the winner is Kylez. Congratulations, K, you get to choose tomorrow's question.

Not a lame question. Holiday weeks are always super low engagement.
